Ski equipment - Ski - BLIZZARD X-Power 770

A powerful piste ski, fun, quick, and easy to ride. These skis come with TP12 CM2 bindings mounted on a IQ track system.

The X Power range is a direct descendant of Blizzards Magnum range and develops on the tech, ease of use, and performance that made this previous range so successful.

The X Power 770 IQ skis are for keen piste skiers who want a great value ski, that is still powerful and precise. The ski has been shaped so that the side-cut, the camber profile, and the construction all work together to give maximum power and control when rolled onto an edge. The result is a consistent and smooth turn, which requires less effort to maintain, this is especially helpful when riding at high speeds. A small amount of rocker in the tip, and a slightly lifted tail allows easier pivoting, initiating a turn will require less force, so setting up a perfect carved turn will be nice and easy.

The binding system used in the X Power range is Blizzard's innovative IQ system, the binding system is built directly into the ski, creating a homogeneous unit. Not only does this increase strength, but it also reduces weight and allows the ski to flex naturally. Many system skis leave a flat spot under the ski where the binding stops the ski from flexing. This is not the case with the IQ system, the binding system can flex, and as a result the ski can keep constant grip and edge hold on the snow. This binding system also offers tool free mounting and adjustment.

These Blizzard skis would be best suited for committed beginner riders, all the way through to advanced intermediates. If you are an advanced rider we would recommend a slightly stiffer ski, but this is a great option for those who want an entry level performance ski.

Features Include

  • 3 Matrix - Sidecut, camber and construction are designed to work perfectly in sync when the ski is placed onto an edge
  • Dura-tec - Blizzard chose materials and construction techniques which are resistant and durable , so their skis can handle a beating on the mountain!
  • Tip and Tail rocker - Rocker in the tip and a slightly lifted tail joins a regular camber construction underfoot. The result is a shorter effective edge that improves agility, makes turns easier, and gives a playful performance
  • Sidewall construction - Edge pressure is distributed constantly over the entire length of the ski, and force is dynamically distributed from edge to edge. Sidewalls also help with the skis handling and durability
  • IQ system - The IQ binding system is integrated directly into the body of the ski, allowing the unit to flex naturally. This system reduces weight and makes steering the skis more precise
  • Space Frame - The core has been cut away in key areas to optimise the flex, edge hold, and dramatically reduce the swing weight of the ski
  • Wood Core- A wood core makes a ski more powerful, and allows energy to better be distributed and therefore the skis are easier to ski and more precise

Brand

Blizzard:
Blizzard Sport GmbH is an Austrian alpine ski manufacturer based in Mittersill, Salzburg, Austria.

Blizzard was established in 1945 by Anton Arnsteiner ("der Toni"), as he returned home from the second world war, in the family joinery workshop,[1] and started producing skis besides wooden furniture. The Blizzard brand was registered in 1953. In 1954, Blizzard became the first manufacturer to mass-produced polyethylene ski bases. Blizzard's first expansion occurred in 1957 as well as the introduction of metal and fiberglass as new materials. 1963 saw a great part of the factory burned down. In 1970, as production reached 500,000 skis per year, company name was changed from "Blizzard Skifabrik Anton Arnsteiner" to "Blizzard GmbH". In 1976 a second production site was opened near Munich.

In October 2006 Blizzard becomes part of the Tecnica-Group. This strategic partnership brings great advantages to both companies right from the beginning.

European Ski Award "Ski Hardware" 2010 For the first time in company history Blizzard got the European Ski Awar ("ispo Award") for the R-Power Full Suspension IQ.
