Völkl FLAVOR 15/16

Product description

A solid foundation to take-off: The Flavor is like your best friend: You can do anything with it and take it anywhere you want! The forgiving Flat Rocker Shape, with its softer flex, guarantees a playful board feeling and makes learning the right technique a piece of cake. However, you can also rely on the Flavor when it comes to icy slopes and powerful carves, as the directional sidecut offers excellent edge hold. Thanks to rocker in the nose and tail the board easily surfs through powder, allowing for a trouble-free and long-lasting off-piste experience. Even steep t-bar lines lose their sting, as the partial Grip-Lacquer offers the same grip a stomp pad does. The Slim-Tip Construction not only makes the Flavor look extremely good but also makes it easier to handle thanks to its lower weight. The Flavor is more than just a beginner’s board, it’s a solid foundation for years to come!

Flat Rocker Shape / Flavor:

This board is flat between the bindings and has minimal rocker in the nose and in the tail, which makes the board mellow on the slope, with its full potential unfolding in the backcountry and the park. This makes these boards super easy to handle while extremely lively and forgiving. The perfect shape for newcomers to the rocker technology as they still get to carve on the slopes, without catching edges or getting stuck in powder.

Technology:

Back-screened topsheet:

- Topsheets with silkscreened graphics are printed on the backside of a transparent and impact-resistant topsheet material. This protects extremely well against damage without compromising design or color.

Diamond finish:

- Diamond Finish is standard for all Völkl boards. Edges are ground so that they extend 1° down from the base and 1° out from the sides and heated for maximum durability. This provides easy maneuverability and great edge hold in icy conditions.

Topsheet with matte silk-screen printing:

- Screen printing with a matte lacquer finish makes the topsheet feel like suede and adds grip. Additionally, the combination of matte and glossy lacquers offers visual depth and a stylish 3D look.

Directional Freestyle Sidecut:

- This sidecut is perfect for all-mountain riders who feel as at home in the park as in the backcountry! The more moderate, directional sidecut has been tuned to work perfectly being set back by 20 mm. Therefore these boards ride more precisely and allow fast edge-to-edge turning. In powder the longer nose provides extra floatation. But also without setback they are a lot of fun to ride with playful riding characteristics, even though nose and tail are not identical.

Partial grip-lacquer:

- For this topsheet the Grip Lacquer is only applied zonally, giving the board an integrated stomp pad as well as an extra special look. Depending on the design, there are coarse or finer grains inside the lacquer – with or without glitter.

Slim-Tip construction:

- In contrast to conventional sandwich construction, the Slim-Tip Construction incorporates a solid, shock-absorbent urethane inlay in the nose and tail, which reduces weight and centrifugal mass, making the nose look slimmer and enhancing rotational characteristics of the board.

Tip-to-Tail Classic Woodcore:

- All Völkl boards are constructed using tip-to-tail and side-to-side aspen woodcores. Even the kids’ boards are equipped with these Tip-to-Tail woodcores, sporting an extra soft flex at a minimum weight.

5x2 Insert System:

- There are three common insert systems, in which the distance between the inserts differs. With a 4x4 system, the inserts are 4cm apart. With the 5x2 and 6x2 Insert Systems, the insert rows are only 2cm apart, which means that the stance can be set more precisely, with the 6x2 system offering the most individual placement options. The discs can then be used to adjust the centering of the bindings.

Sandwich construction:

- Located between the upper and lower layer of fiber on the core of the board is a sidewall made of ABS synthetics that has been integrated to directly transmit pressure from the bindings onto the edge without loss of power. This makes the board even more responsive, providing maximum edge grip and the smoothest ride possible.

Triaxial fiberglass weave in upper and lower beam:

- This special weave consists of fibers that are positioned at a 45° angle (+45°/-45°) in addition to a longitudinal direction. Depending on the density of the woven fibers, torsion and flex are enhanced without increasing the core’s thickness. This reduces weight and enhances responsiveness as well as edge grip.

Extruded super-clear base:

- This special Super-Clear Base complements silk-screened base graphics and delivers brilliant colors and almost total transparency. It also makes the base low-maintenance and very durable.

Diamond finish:

- Diamond Finish is standard for all Völkl boards. Edges are ground so that they extend 1° down from the base and 1° out from the sides and heated for maximum durability. This provides easy maneuverability and great edge hold in icy conditions.

Wax finish:

- All Völkl boards are equipped with Wax Finish before leaving the factory. This fine layer of wax is fine for the first couple of runs but to ensure the base keeps its gliding characteristics over time, we strongly recommend hot waxing before its first use on snow!

Swap Base:

- When working with graphics that feature many different colors Die-Cut Swap Bases reduce waste and so contribute to the protection of our environment. Furthermore, depending on the colors used, it means that we can produce different variations of board graphic. Is your board graphic unique and different? It could be with a Die-Cut Swap Base.

Brand

Volkl:
Volkl is a sports equipment manufacturer based in Germany. It is a subsidiary of the Jarden Corporation. Initially it manufactured skis, but has extended its line to snowboards, outerwear, and tennis gear. The American branch is located in West Lebanon, New Hampshire along with its wholly owned binding manufacturer, Marker.

Since 1923, Volkl has manufactured skis in Straubing, Germany, a Bavarian town about an hour's drive north of Munich. In the 1960s, Seaos started distributing Volkl in North America under the Othmar Schneider and Sears brands. Though they recently built a state-of-the-art production facility in Straubing, the original factory is still in use as the Volkl World Logistics Center.

In early 2007 Volkl presents another quantum leap in the evolution of the ski: Power Switch Technology, a mechanism that allows you to completely transform your skis' characteristics, with a simple manual switch enabling the adjustment to current snow conditions or to your fitness level. One of the greatest innovations in skiing since the invention of carving and a fundamental buling block for the future of skiing.
